SOUND COMMENTS FROM CUSTOMERS
I was prepared for the Packburn to be impressive, but had no idea what amazing results it pulls from older recordings! What a delight to hear recordings from before 1940 with such magical fidelity. I got to hear a glimpse of a giant world of music whose caliber is unknown today, largely because it has been hidden by the technical limitations of older recording technology. The Packburn effectively removes most of those limitations and unveils the artistry in the recordings, all in real time. Bravo Tom, (Dick) and Joyce for supporting this journey.

I have been listening to 78’s since I was a kid, and collecting for over 30 years and this is the best real-time device I have used. I wish I had one 30 years ago.

Record quality in the ‘Echoes from the Past’ collection ranges from pristine to Petri dish. The vast majority of Japanese Empire period 78s tried thus far benefit from the noise suppression offered by the Packburn Model 329AD. The Packburn is easy to use and does not require excessive fiddling to produce excellent results. My colleague keeps stealing this piece of equipment off my desk, so I suppose he can endorse it as well.

The Yale Collection of Historical Sound Recordings has been making extensive use of the Packburn 329AD model enhanced audio noise suppressor for the better part of a year, replacing the model 325. The new model performs wonderfully in all manners, especially while making transfers of 78rpm discs and LP recordings. The equalization levels, when they’re to be used, are easy to set and assess for each recording in such a way as to enhance the musical sound while decreasing other unneeded frequencies. And most impressively, the TNS setting minimizes clicks and pops without any noticeable sacrifice or alteration of the recorded sound. Having this much control and choice during the actual digitization transfer process is invaluable.
